Admissions The Joliet Diocesan Board of Education and the St. Walter School Board are committed to supporting equal educational opportunities for all children, and to providing a Christian environment in which Roman Catholic truths and values are integrated with every aspect of human life. Since this Catholic philosophy of education is the basis of the entire school program, it is integral that families wishing their children enrolled in St. Walter School share the same faith and value commitment. It is the expectation of St. Walter Parish that all school families are contributing members of the parish community. _________ With the above statements as fundamental, the following criteria for admissions has been established for St. Walter School: 1. No student shall be denied admission to St. Walter School solely on the basis of race, sex, color, national, or ethnic origin. 2. All families must be registered, contributing members of St. Walter Parish. 3. The ability to provide appropriate educational programs and/or the
availability of space can be factors in considering admissions. |

6. Third priority in admission will be given to families who are registered members of St. Walter Parish. Length of time as a registered parishioner of St. Walter Parish will determine priority. The parent/legal guardian of the child being registered must be the registered parishioner. 7. Readmission of students, previously having transferred from St. Walter School, will be reviewed on an individual basis by the principal and the pastor. 8. Admission of students wishing to transfer into St. Walter School will be reviewed on an individual basis by the principal. Transferring records and the date of the transfer will be taken into consideration. The transfer of a student into eighth grade will, for the most part, not be considered at any time during the school year.9. Families, whose financial accounts for the preceding school year have not been settled, must make an appointment with the pastor to resolve the matter before the child/children will be readmitted. 10. Any family who is not able to pay school tuition will not be denied admission to St. Walter School. This situation should be discussed with the principal or pastor. This matter is handled privately and confidentially. 11. Any child entering preschool or kindergarten must be three, four, or five years of age respectively on or before September 1. 12. The pastor and the principal may make discretionary exceptions to the above policies when, in their judgment, it is in the best interest of St. Walter School. Policy Effective: March 13, 2003
